What great insight on this topic Colleen. I think conferences is one of the best way to network and meet people, even if one is a super introvert you can be sure there will be others as shy as they are in the same room. For me, going to conferences in the beginning of my career was not only to learn and meet other people but was also to try to speak at the conference. I made sure I connect to the people who were connected to the conference and kept in touch with them. It wasn’t long after that I was asked to come and speak. After all, they all need speakers for their programs. A conference for speakers sound really interesting. What was the URL for this event? Any star speakers you were impressed with?

Oops! Forgot to put in that link! I'll add it to the post, but here's the link directly: NSA GLAC Summer Symposium.

And by far my favorite speakers were Alan Weiss, a keynote speaker this weekend who usually speaks to big business and CEOs and Arnold Sanow, who gave more of a how-to program on how to increase your bookings. Both had a great, easygoing manner combined with terrific content and presence.

But I learned at least as much from the speakers I didn't like. That's the other great thing about conferences: you don't have to like everything to learn from it!

I'm on my way this afternoon to Baltimore, where I'll be giving a workshop focused on how to create a one-page marketing plan for HVAC (air conditioner) dealers.

Here's the worksheet I'll be using. Getting it on paper is the first step toward growth in any business.
